Five Products on my Beauty Radar – February 2018

a collage of various beauty products that are numbered with a pink header at the top of the page

Is it ironic for me to share a list of things I’m thinking of buying right after I announce I’m going on a low-buy for the year?  Probably but here we are!  I was visiting Polished and Inspired’s blog the other day and came across her 9 Beauty Products I Want to Try in 2019 and was inspired – so I decided to put my own spin on things with beauty products I’m eyeing up every few months or so.  I will be keeping within the rules of my low-buy here so I’m not cheating here – I’m just window shopping and weighing my options.  Anyway, here’s what’s currently on my list:

CoverGirl Exhibitionist Mascara

I’m always on the hunt for my next great mascara; I’ve got a good thing going with a couple of Maybelline mascaras right now but once I finish those up I think this is going to be my next purchase.  The wand looks a lot like the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara but I’m hopeful that it won’t flake and smudge on me the same way.

CoverGirl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer

I would love to find a drugstore replacement for my beloved Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I’ve heard really positive reviews on this.  Note I have super oily eyelids so I need something that’s super-strength!

KAJA Beauty Bento Bouncy Shimmer Eyeshadow Trio (Rose Water)

Oh look – more eyeshadow!  But technically this isn’t an eyeshadow palette so it’s okay (bending the rules much?).  I am very seriously considering picking this up – there’s nothing I love more than a matte shadow in the crease and a shimmery, shiny shade on the lid.  Bonus points if it’s any shade of rose/pink.  These seem pretty reasonably priced to boot!

L’Oreal Infallible Full Wear Concealer

I’m currently this.close to finishing up a tube of Shape Tape and I’m feeling a little anxious about that.  It’s my favourite concealer and although I’m also currently using Too Faced’s Born this Way Concealer I’m not enjoying it (review coming soon!) and I’d like to find something similar to Shape Tape.  I like that this is full coverage and I’ve heard good things so I might keep an eye out to see if it goes on sale.

Jouer Cosmetics Blush Bouquet Dual Blush Palette (Rose Gold Collection)

Jouer has been on my list of brands to try and even though I’m not really a fan of blush palettes, this one looks so pretty. I must admit the packaging is part of the reason why I’ve been admiring this but the shades also look pretty and perfect for Spring!

Have you tried any of these products?  Let me know below, I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!

Great idea to do this every few months, and great picks! Those Kaja Beauty were really going around YouTube at the end of last year, and the products look so cute!
Sooo I’ve been itching to buy one of the Jouer blush duos in the last week or so, but now that I’m seriously thinking about buying one, I can’t decide which one I want LOL. The Rose Gold one was the most likely candidate, but I think the lighter shade might be too light for me.

I just swatched those Kaja Beauty eyeshadows in store and while they were pretty, I think they’re too glittery for me. :(. Really cute packaging though!

Is there a Sephora store in Calgary that has Jouer? I think I’ve decided I need to see things in person before buying it (i.e. the Kaja eyeshadows). The swatches of the Jouer blushes look so intense online that I’m a little afraid of some of the more intense shades.

I think that is the norm for Korean/Japanese brand eyeshadows, to be honest. Very sheer or glittery, because that’s the style they like there!

No, according to the Sephora website, it looks like the whole brand is online only! 🙁 I do agree with you though, there’s always one really intense shade in the duos.
