The Summer Tag

Happy Tuesday!  I thought today I’d do something I haven’t done in a while – a tag!  Nobody tagged me in this – in fact, I just went and did a search for the Summer tag and pieced together some questions from a few different sources I found.  As we head into the last full month of Summer (welp!), I thought this would be a nice break from everything beauty-related I’ve been posting lately.  So, on to the questions!

Dream Summer vacation?

Spending the Summer in a large, air-conditioned home that sits on an ocean or lake with a private pool.  Lounging around all day – reading, eating, drinking, going for dips in the pool.  Going for long walks in the evening with Maggie.  Having a private chef come by to cook meals a few days a week and eating every meal outside.  Basically living the life of a celebrity.  Sigh.

Favourite summer drink?

Non-alcoholic: Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade

Alcoholic: Joey’s Super Stoked Vodka Coke

Favourite BBQ food?

BBQ’d steak – I used this marinade and pair it with this steak sauce.  Delicious!

Beach or Pool?

This is a tough one because I enjoy both; I’d say generally beach but if it was my own, private pool, the pool wins.

S’mores or Ice Cream?

Ice cream, even though it doesn’t like me.

Fondest summer memory?

Being a kid and feeling like Summer would go on forever – now it seems to come and go with a blink of the eye.

Does your skin tan or burn?

Burn 100%

How do you wear your hair in the Summer? (down, ponytail, ombre, dip dye, etc.)

I tend to wear it down unless it’s super hot, then it’s usually up in a messy bun.  My hair is typically a little lighter and blonder as the sun tends to bleach it a bit.

Favorite summer nail polish?

Essie Lounge Lover

Would you rather spend a summer day outside in the pool or inside watching Netflix?

Outside in the pool, if I had one.

Sunglasses or hats?

I’m fair so technically both but if I can only pick one, sunglasses. I have very sensitive eyes and I basically can’t open my eyes outside without them.

What is YOUR song of the summer?

I’ve been loving In My Feelings by Drake; so catchy!

Do you have a summer bucket list? If so, share some things on the list.

  • I wanted to take Maggie on a vacation this year – check!
  • Order a patio set so we can eat meals outside – ordering this week!
  • Keep my plants and flowers alive this year – so far, so good!

Bikinis, Tankinis, or One Pieces?

Usually a bikini but I’m actually on the hunt for a cute one piece, they’ve grown on me!  Plus I could use that extra coverage right now (no Summer bod here).

Must have summer makeup product?

I know the answer should be sunscreen but that’s kind of boring.  Lately I’ve been hooked on IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination but only applied with a damp Beauty Blender.

Favourite Summer scent?

Anything coconut-related.  I love the smell of my OGX Miracle Oil Coconut Lotion and for an actual fragrance I’ve been using Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s Vanille Coco.

Favorite thing about summer?

I don’t know if I’m supposed to limit to one but I’m not going to:

  • The longer days; I love waking up and having it light outside and having the sun set as I’m ready to go to bed
  • The smells: freshly cut grass, impending rain, bbqs, fresh air
  • Not wearing socks! Or boots.  Or heavy winter coats.
  • Eating al-fresco either at home or at a restaurant

Summer Book Recommendations

Valley of the Dolls – Jacqueline Susann

Big Little Lies – Liane Mortiary

PS I Love You – Cecila Ahern

What a fun tag, I loved reading your answers! Your dream summer vacation sounds so relaxing and lovely! And I wholeheartedly agree with all of the things you love about summer!

I am trying to avoid thinking about summer ending in approximately 30 days…as much as I like autumn, I can’t get enough of summer!
