This & That Fridays – February 23

We went and watched Black Panther this week and it was fantastic!  I’m not usually a huge fan of superhero movies but after watching this and Wonder Woman, I might just becoming a fan of them.

I made this blueberry crumble pie recipe last weekend and it was really good aside from the fact that my blueberries were pretty sour – I guess it’s not really blueberry season.

I was at Winners last week and came across a bunch of The Balm palettes but I only picked up one (highfive for me!) – The Balm Jovi palette.  Because I definitely needed another eyeshadow palette…

Do you know how hard it is to find Swiss Water Processed decaf coffee that isn’t a dark roast?  I finally came across this medium roast from West End Coffee Roasters and so far, it’s pretty good.

I needed a new Beauty Blender so I picked up the newest version – the Chill.  It’s a variation of my favourite colour so I had to get it.

I can’t remember the last time I shopped at Reitmans, mostly because they hardly have any locations in my neck of the woods anymore.  But I happened to be at one recently and picked up the best jeans ever for $15!  They are the perfect length, fit and wash.  Oh and they don’t stretch out!  But of course, they’ve redesigned these jeans and made them not as nice because that’s what always happens when I find something I like.  So I’m just going to cherish these.

This pretty watercolour sweatshirt is going to be mine.

What’s your favourite type of cookie?  Mine are Oatmeal Raisin – I need to try this recipe.

BareMinerals released some new GenNude blushes and lip glosses and they look beautiful – I want them all!

I LOVE this throw pillow from Urban Barn but I’m kicking myself because I saw the exact same one at Homesense weeks ago for 1/3 of the price!

My favourite candle has been made into a hand lotion and I’m intrigued!

Drooling over these Nails Inc. polishes

The only planter I should ever own 😉

We started watching this show last week and while it’s usually hilarious, sometimes it’s so offensive sometimes I can barely believe it’s actually on tv.  That said, I’m kind of hooked on it – have you watched it?

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up – Marie Kondo

I must admit I’ve been struggling to read this – while there is lots good advice in here in regards to decluttering and organizing your space and belongings, some of it is just a little too wackadoodle to me.  Like any self-help book I’ll take what I find helpful from it and discard the rest.

My Name is Lucy Barton – Elizabeth Strout

This was an odd book – for me it was one of those that didn’t really have much of a point to it.  It’s about a woman’s relationship with her mother but you don’t really get a feel for the characters enough to connect with them.  It jumped around a lot and I actually found it pretty depressing – I wouldn’t recommend it.

What I’m reading next:

The Hieresses – Sara Shepard

Oooh, we’re hoping to see Black Panther tonight! As a fellow superhero non-fan, I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it, because maybe that means I will too.

The blueberry crumble pie looks amazing! I’m too lazy these days to bake, but I would love to make that in the summer!

Reitmans has really nice clothes! I love their tops for work especially, but have never tried their jeans.

Oooh, great taste on that Roots watercolour shirt, it’s beautiful!

PS, I’ve been meaning to ask you this forever but keep forgetting – what’s the font you use for your This & That Friday featured image? Not asking for my blog, but for my calligraphy haha.

Nice score on TheBalm palettes at Winners – I haven’t seen any of them near here. I did score my favourite Shiseido face wash at Winners for less than half the normal price.

I got a couple of pairs of jeans at Reitmans last year on sale and they’re quite good. I was surprised!

I need that planter… I’ve killed so many plants. I’m a serial plant killer!

Spoiler alert – not enjoying The Balm palette. Glad I only paid $16 for it. 🙁

I’m so not good with plants either – I either forget to water them or over-water them. I like ones that don’t need much attention – like cactuses. 😉

Black Panther was amazing! I’m still thinking about how much I enjoyed it! I am a HUGE superhero movie fan, but this was probably one of the best ones I’ve seen lately.
