What I Got for Christmas & My Birthday 2017

Happy 2018!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, I definitely did.  As I do ever year, I’m sharing the gifts I received for Christmas and my Birthday.

Philips Avance Pasta Maker

This was a joint gift for Mr. PRL & I; last year we cooked at home more than we ever have since we’ve been married.  We love trying new recipes and cooking new things and making fresh homemade pasta was on our list.  Originally I just wanted one of those hand crank pasta makers but then upon some further research we came across this machine and promptly added it to our Christmas wish list. We’ve used it a handful of times since we received it and absolutely love it!  It literally takes 15 minutes to make fresh pasta and all you have to add is flour and water (and eggs if you desire); it can make a variety of pastas too – spaghetti, penne, linguine, lasagna noodles, etc..  I don’t expect to even buy pasta again! 🙂

Viseart Theory Palette – Amethyst

I was so excited to receive this palette for my birthday as it’s been on my wish list for a long time;  I’ve used it a couple of times so far and it’s so, so pretty.  It’s on my list for a full review once I’ve used it a bit more.

Farmacy Skin Savior Kit

I totally forgot to take a picture of this so excuse the “borrowed” photo.  Farmacy products have been on my list to try for a while so I’m excited to give these a go!  This set includes their Honey Potion Face Mask, Skin Tight Firming Night Balm, Honey Saviour Salve and Skin Dew Hydrating Face Mist.

Boscia Feelin Flawless Set

I added this set to my Christmas list because I’ve been wanting to try Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask for ages!  It’s included in this set as well as their Tsubaki Swirl Two-Part Gel & Cream Deep Hydration Moisturizer, Charcoal Deep-Pore Exfoliating Peel Gel, and Tsubaki Swirl moisturizer.  Unfortunately this set isn’t available online anymore at Sephora anymore but you might be able to find it in-store, and it is available on Boscia’s website.

L’Occitane Shower Oil

I’m almost out of my favourite shower oil so this was a very well-timed gift; I love this stuff, nothing compares to it.

Bear Mug

Award for most adorable mug goes to! Indigo has a whole set of these mugs that includes a fox, racoon, and owl and I’d love to get them all, although they’re all sold out online (fingers crossed that they re-order them in!)

Dog Mom Mug

While the above mug is the cutest, this one is my favourite, for obvious reasons. 😉

Herbivore Coconut Milk Bath Soak

Herbivore is a brand I want to explore more this year, mainly because I tried their Blue Tansy mask back in November and fell in love with it.  I’m a huge bath-lover so I love all kinds of bath products; I’ve used this twice so far and it’s super soothing and relaxing.

Festivi-Teas Set

I ventured more into teas last year, specifically loose-leaf teas so I was pretty happy to receive this set to add to my tea collection.  It has some unique flavours in it like Egg Nog and Baked Apple that I look forward to trying.

Naturel Teas – Peach Blossom

I was crushed this year when Teavanna closed all their locations (thanks Starbucks! 🙁 ), especially because that meant I wouldn’t be able to get their Peach Tranquility tea any longer.  Thankfully I was gifted this replacement that’s just as good but made in Alberta, specifically in Banff!  I’ve only tried this hot so far and it’s delicious – can’t wait to try it cold too!

Cedar Mountain Wall Art Plaque

Every year my Mom and I attend the annual Art Market, which is a craft fair that takes place in November and features a variety of artisans, many of them local and Canadian.  This was one of them – an art studio located off the coast of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia called Cedar Mountain.   I’ve been eyeing their wall art for years but was particularly fond of the ones with animals dressed as people.  I can’t wait to hang this in my office!

Steel Daisy Necklace

This necklace is from a Calgary artist who was also a vendor at the 2017 Art Market; I’ve admired her work for several years and this year I was lucky enough to receive one of her pieces.  I love this because it’s unique yet simple and fits my personal style very well.

Old Navy Bow Ring

I love all things bow-related and who would ever guess this is from Old Navy?  It’s so pretty!

Vanilla Maple Syrup Candle

This smells exactly as it sounds – delicious!

In addition: The cutest and coziest reading socks, Gift cards to Sephora, the mall, Pj’s from LaSenza, Mittens from Aritizia, Chocolates and Candy

I’m so thankful to receive such wonderful gifts!  What did you receive for the holidays?  Let me know below!

A pasta maker! How fancy and awesome. 😀 I can just imagine how life would change to have a machine like that at your fingertips!
I wanted one of those Viseart Theory palettes until I realized that I haven’t even touched the neutral matte palette I bought last year…
Ooh I love bow rings too. I have a few including a dainty one from Pandora that I adore.
The Dog Mom mug is the best! Enjoy all your goodies!
I posted what I got for Christmas on the blog a couple of weeks back. 🙂 I’ll link it in your little widget.
    Happy New Year!

It is pretty life-changing – fresh pasta in 15 minutes? Going to need to go up a pant size for sure 😉

Hopefully you get some used out of that neutral matte palette – it looks gorgeous and perfect for everyday use!

Happy New Year to you as well – thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Ooh lucky you, I’ve always wanted a pasta maker, except I didn’t know if I would get any use out of it cause I’m lazy. Seems like it would be a lot of work, but you said it only takes 15 minutes to make the dough!
Drooling over that Viseart palette! All those pretty purple shades…
The Farmacy kit looks fantastic. Would love to see a review of the products in the future! 🙂
I saw that David’s Tea tea set on sale after Boxing Day and was tempted to buy it (but didn’t). There are some really yummy-sounding flavours in there.
The Dog Mom mug is the cutest!

Yup it’s super simple – it’s definitely the pasta maker for the lazy person (i.e. me!). Pour the ingredients in, it mixes them and then expells the pasta, you just have to cut it as it comes out and then cook it. I’m in love with it!

I’ll make a note to review that Farmacy set for sure!

      Thanks for reading! 🙂
