Sephora VIB Sale Haul – Fall 2017

It’s time to share what I hauled from the Sephora VIB Sale!

WHAT I PURCHASED

Too Faced Just Peachy Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette – Peaches and Cream Collection

I’ve been using this palette for a solid two weeks and I’m in LOVE!  I swore I’d never be interested in a warm palette and wearing warm-toned looks; I’m not sure if it’s the fact that these are matte or what but I love the way these look on my eyes!  The shades are stunning and actually much easier to use than I expected.  I will be doing a full review on this palette in the near future keep an eye on my blog for that!

Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation – Peaches and Cream Collection

I knew I was going to pick this up after I used up a sample of it and loved it; again, I really like this as I like that it’s matte but not flat.  I’ll probably do a full review this as well.

| Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder – Peaches and Cream Collection

This was on my maybe list but I ended up getting it sounded like it would pair well with the Comfort Matte foundation; I’ve used this about half-a-dozen times so far and I’m not sure how I feel about it.  I definitely notice that it blurs pores but if I apply too much it can make me look cakey and dry.  Which is ironic because when I swirl my brush on it, it doesn’t seem like it’s picking up any product.  I think I need to do some research on the right type of brush to apply this with.

Sephora Favourites Scouted by Sephora Set (SOLD OUT)

This was an impulse buy in-store; first of all, I’ll admit that I liked the price ($42 before the 20% off);  plus it included a couple of products that I wanted to try (the Drunk Elephant serum, Farmacy Mask and Bum Bum Cream) and a bunch that I had never heard of before.  Also I kind of have an obsession with travel-sized products and this was filled with them.  So far I’ve tried the Farmacy Honey Potion (good but I wish it wasn’t a warming mask); Tata Harper Moisturizer (I hate the scent of this – it’s herbal and extremely overpowering!), the Herbivore Blue Tansy Mask (absolutely loving this one!) and the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum (not a fan of this).  Overall I’m pretty happy with this set and found it to be a good value.

NEST Black Tulip Fragrance

I’ve been eyeing up this fragrance since it was released last year (I think?) so I snatched up this rollerball right away when I saw it as a 100 point perk.  I find it kind of similar to Indigo which I really like but it’s also unique in it’s own way – a little spicy, a little floral and a little sweet.

First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

I had a little foil pack sample of this a few months ago and it seemed to work really well on my skin – it reminded me a lot of Too Faced’s Hangover Primer but slightly thicker.  I’m a fan of priming moisturizers – skipping a step in the morning is always a bonus, right?  Anyway this was another 100 point perk so I redeemed for it and have been using it since my order arrived.  My opinion hasn’t changed – I still like it and might pick up the full size after I’m done with this.

| Sephora Collection Avocado Sleeping Mask (not shown)

I LOVE this mask – if my skin is ever feeling dry/dehydrated I reach for this and it instantly helps; I’ve tried the sleeping mask and it’s awesome too!

WHAT I DIDN’T BUY

As usual, there were many things I decided to pass on once I was actually faced with a completely ridiculous total at the checkout:

Becca Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer

I was all set to buy this until I clued in that I have two luminizing primers that I added into my Project Pan and I’ve barely even touched them!  As much as I want to try this, I need to ensure I finish up those other ones first.  Damn being responsible.

| Living Proof Prime Style Extender Mini

Grrr I’m so mad – I completely forgot about this and didn’t realize it until the sale was over.  I believe this was part of a set I bought at last year’s Black Friday “sale” and I was hoping they’d have a similar set with this included this year but no such luck.

| Foundation

I decided to defer picking up another foundation until the $25 coupon they send out at the beginning of December (here’s hoping they do this again this year!).  This year I’d like to maximize my coupon by purchasing something for $50 (and that’s it hahahayahrighthaha) and all of the foundations are in that range.  Plus I wanted to pick up some samples of them first too and I didn’t have a chance to do that prior the sale.

| Eyeshadow Palette

The BareMinerals one I was eyeing wasn’t even sold in-store, they were still sold out of the purple Viseart palette and the Natasha Denona Lila palette was never going to happen let’s be honest.  I did throw a few palettes on my Christmas wish list so we’ll see what happens with that.

| More skincare

The skincare set above will keep me going for a while in regards to skincare so I didn’t feel the need to pick up anything else.  I was and am still very interested in that Boscia Peel-Off mask but they actually had Boscia sets that included it so I threw that on my Christmas wish list as well, in addition to the Ole Henrikson set.

Overall I’m pretty happy with my purchases; it sure can be easy to get sucked into buying all.the.things with that 20% off though.  I feel like I was a little more thoughtful in my purchases this year and I wasn’t buying things just because they were on sale – nor trying to obtain VIB Rouge.  For the first time in many years, I won’t be a VIB Rouge next year but I honestly am not going to miss it.  I’ve said this before – I learned this and last year that there are very little, if any, benefits to spending that amount of money in Sephora.  Does that mean I’m spending less money overall?  No I’m just spending it at Shoppers Drug Mart instead and throughly enjoying their rewards system. 🙂

What did you get at the Sephora sale (if anything?) – let me know below!

I didn’t realize the Too Faced eyeshadow palette is matte! That makes me want to grab one for myself because I love matte eyeshadows. What are your favourite shades in the palette?

I loved reading through this. I always get so curious to know what people are buying!

    • prettyrufflife says

Yes it’s alllll matte! 🙂 My favourite shades….hmmm tough call but I’d go with Peach Punch and Peach Sangria – they’re both stunning!

      Thanks for reading Vanessa!

Oh girl, you got such a good haul! I’m STILL going back and forth between whether or not to get the Too Faced palette. On one hand, I think I will love it, but on the other hand, I’m afraid I won’t reach for those matte orangey/red shades often.

That Sephora skincare set looks AWESOME. There’s so many products in there that I would love to try, particularly the Honey Potion and the Herbivore Blue Tansy Mask. I’ve heard great things about both!

Haha, I have the opposite problem as you this year – for the first time ever, I’ve come close enough to reaching Rouge (I need $35 more) that I’m wondering if I should just buy something so I can get to Rouge. Like you said, the perks don’t really make it worth it.

Not to be an enabler or anything but GET IT! Honestly I tend to stick to neutrals most of the time so I didn’t think I would use this very often – I actually have to stop myself from using it because I love it so much! And I’m not just talking about the brown shades, I want to dip into the burgundy/orange shades too. It’s seriously beautiful! 🙂

I’m definitely picking up the full size of the Blue Tansy mask once I use up the smaller jar – it’s a great mask!

If you’re only $35 away from Rouge, I say just go for it. If you’re that close, you might as well reap the few benefits from it! 🙂

I agree with your thoughts on the FAB Coconut primer. I really loved the sample I got. 🙂 The TF eyeshadow looks gorge and I’m so happy it worked out for you. I got the KVD palette and a mask set from Dr. Dennis Gross.

I’m almost finished with that little tube of the FAB primer and now I’m not sure I love it so much – it doesn’t seem as good as last time? I hate it when that happens.

I look forward to reading about what you picked up at the sale! Thanks for reading Stephanie!
