This & That Fridays – September 15

I took a bit of a blogging break for a month – I was just busy with a few things and wasn’t feeling like blogging all that much, although in general I tend to blog less in the Summer.  The break did me good and I’m looking forward to getting back at it.

The plan was to get 3 posts up this week but my domain expired today and I spent the week facilitating a transfer to a new web host.  Note to self (and anyone else considering changing web hosts) give yourself plenty of time to transfer!  Mine was finally transferred over today but I hit quite a few snags throughout the process and it would have been a disaster if it hadn’t fully transferred over before today.  Phew!

What’s on my nails: I’m calling this “reluctantly transitioning to Fall” – OPI Let’s Be Friends (a pale milky pink cream that I find little patchy/streaky – definitely a three coater) with Formula X Perfection (a cream taupe with a hint of purple; amazing formula and a straight-up dupe for Essie’s Merino Cool; too bad these polishes are no longer available) on my ring finger.

I’ve really been wanting a mini backpack for travel but I was (as usual) being pretty picky about what I wanted, but I found exactly what I wanted at American Eagle.  I’ve used it a few times already and I love it – it’s the perfect size, lightweight and comfortable to wear.

I needed a new facial cleanser and since I’ve been pretty happy with Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Gel Cream, I decided to give their Hydrating Gel Cleanser and the Hydrating Serum a try.  I’ve been using both for about 3 weeks now and I LOVE them!  I’ll probably pick up the eye cream so I can do a review on the full range – it’s a great line!

I love RW&Co’s Natalie pants in the 25 inch length – I have a few pairs of them and I recently picked up a pair in this hot pink colour (even though they describe it as Claret Red) and I love them.  Definitely more for Summer though.

@lowes_canada had the best Halloween ?decorations and I want them all!

I was in Lowes the other night and of course beelined it to their Halloween section.  I could have emptied my bank account there, but I think I’m going to need to go back and pick up the telephone – the dial actually works, it rings and a spooky voice speaks to you when you pick up the receiver.  It’s so cool!

Absolutely need this t-shirt.

I’ve been watching plenty of Fenty Beauty reviews on YouTube this week (even if you wanted to, they’d be difficult to get away from) and as a lip gloss lover, I very much want to try her gloss.  It looks so pretty!

I’m going to attempt this pizza crust this weekend; I like that it’s slightly healthier but hopefully it tastes just as good as regular crust!

Not many of the newly released eyeshadow palettes have interested me, with the exception of Too Faced’s Just Peachy Mattes palette.  I want it!  I like that it’s warm, but not too warm.  The reviews have been pretty positive overall too!

Vanessa Kingson –

I haven’t featured a fellow blogger on here for a while so this is long overdue!  Today I’m featuring Vanessa Kingston of the blog by the same name. Vanessa blogs about all- things lifestyle from beauty and fashion to mental health and books.  She and I, along with Belinda Laurie are all devoted Big Brother fans and you can usually catch us on Twitter conversing about the latest episode.  Recently she did up a post on the benefits of having a day planner, in addition to sharing her planner of choice (which is beautiful btw!).  If you’re contemplating a planner, head over to her blog and give her a follow while you’re there!

Have a wonderful weekend!

The mini backpack from AE is so cute. I have a similar one from Benetton that I got ages ago – really handy for day trips.
Congrats on transferring your web host! 🙂
I can’t believe everything is Halloween now… I am stocking up on mini candies (not to give out, to eat)

Ohhh Benetton – that’s taking me back a few years. We had a store here for a while but it closed out.

I can’t believe it’s Halloween either – where did the Summer go? As much as I love Halloween I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to Summer yet. 🙁

    Thanks for the feature!

I also really want to try the Fenty Beauty lip gloss, and maybe even the foundation because I barely find ones to match my skintone.

Nice to see you posting again 🙂

I picked up the Fenty Beauty gloss last weekend – I’m still testing it out but so far the formula is amazing, the shade – meh. I kind of knew that’d be the case with it though.

Hopefully you can find a shade match w/ their foundation – it’s so awesome that they have such an extensive shade range!

Oh my gosh, I bought those Natalie pants near the end of the summer in beige and light pink. Am sooo in love with them! Was gonna go back for all of the other colours (lol) but looks like everything is sold out online! I wonder if there’s anything left in stores…

I’m so torn as to whether I want the Just Peachy Mattes palette or not. I love all of the shades but I’m not sure if I’d actually put the shades to use.

I’ve heard many good things about the Hydro Boost Gel Cream! Do you think it’s moisturizing enough for dry skin?

    • prettyrufflife says

You should try the RW in Crossiron – they have a huge clearance section and ususally have a bunch of stock!

I haven’t tried the regular Hydro Boost moisturizer (in the jar) but I know they have versions for dry and extra skin so one of those might be worth a try for you! I have dry skin and I love the sunscreen version but I’m probably going to test out the one in the jar for the Winter months because my skin is going to need that extra moisture.

Honestly warm palettes are usually not interesting at all to me but there’s something about that Too Faced palette – it just looks so pretty and I feel like most of the shades are pretty wearable on a day to day basis.

      Thanks for reading!
