Decluttering in 2017: Project Pan – June Update!

OMG how is it June already?  I feel like I just did up my Project Pan post a few weeks ago and yet here we are, halfway through the year!  Time is flying!

Time for me to update you guys on my progress on my Project Pan project!  If you’d like to read my initial post that details how and why I picked these products, you can read that here.  If you’re wondering how things are going I must admit that I’ve actually really been enjoying this project, even if sometimes get boring to use the same makeup/products over.  I find that having options definitely helps with that (i.e. next time i won’t just pick one blush!) and I try to focus on using my project pan products during the week and then “treat” myself to using my other products on weekends or if I’m going out. I find it really satisfying to use up products that I’ve spent my hard-earned money on and I actually see myself continuing this project for years to come.   I already have some ideas on how I’m going to improve the process for next year!

For now, let’s review how things have been going for the last 5 months or so:

Givenchy Play for Her

The notes in this fragrances are as follows: Bergamot, Sweet Pea, Amyris Wood, Tiare Flower, Sandalwood, Musk.  I didn’t mind it but I definitely wouldn’t pick it up again; it had zero lasting power.  I could spray a bunch of it on in the morning and within a few hours it disappeared.  Plus I found the bottle clunky and a little awkward.  I must say it is durable though – I dropped it on tile floor and a chunk of the cap broke off and that’s it!

Repurchase?: No

Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Multi-Correcting Cream

\s mentioned in my inital post, I found this moisturizer to be way too thick, creamy and fragranced for my taste so I used this on my neck at night.  It worked fine but I didn’t see any improvements or differences after using it.

Repurchase?: No

Shiseido Ulimune Eye Power Infusing Concentrate

I’m so glad to be finally be done this eye cream – it felt like I was never going to reach the end of it.  It didn’t help that I felt like this did absolutely nothing for my eye area – it didn’t moisturize, reduce fine lines or roughness. I literally used this every night for 4 months straight and I saw zero results!  The only positive was that you needed to use very little as it was very emolient and a bit of it went a long way.

Repurchase: No

blinc Lash Discovery Duo

I tried out the mascara in this set once and I wasn’t a fan.  It made my lashes stick together so it made it appear that I only had 3 of them and it offered no thickness, volume or separation.  It was also a tubing mascara which I’m really not a fan of and this one was particularly annoying to remove.  I used the primer included in this set a few times and didn’t mind it.  While it didn’t do anything to improve the state of the mascara, it seemed to work well with other mascaras and reduced flaking/smudging.  Please excuse it’s absence from the photo above – I forgot to include it!

Repurchase?: Mascara – no; Primer – maybe

bareMinerals Marvellous Moxie Lipstick (Speak Your Mind)

Sadly these lipsticks no longer exist – bareMinerals discontinued them although I do find the formula of their GenNude Radiant lipsticks pretty much the same.  I loved this lipstick – it was super creamy and rich and I never had to worry about it drying out my lips.  I loved it so much that once I wore the bullet down to the end I scraped the rest of it out and put it in a container so that not a drop of it was wasted.

Repurchase?: If I could!

NYX Creamy Round Lipstick (Paris)

Okay this is a bit of a weird situation; after I used up the bareMinerals lipstick, I started to focus on using this one up.  I used it for about a week and then one day it just mysteriously disappeared off of my vanity and I have no clue where it went?  I’ve searched through my entire stash and it’s nowhere to be found.  So for the time being I’m just going to consider this one officially lost but if I ever come across it I’ll add it back in.  Cue spooky music – #unsolvedmysteries

bareMinerals All Over Face Colour (Warmth)

Age: 3 years old

Current state: 1/3 of jar left

I’ve been using this product for years and I like it, although  I prefer using it in the Summer when I have more of a tan (It can look a little orange on me otherwise).

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate (103)

Age:3 years

Current state: 1/4 of tube left

I’m not a big lipstick wearer but that’s especially true in the Summer –  I like wearing glosses and balms that are easy to apply instead.  In place of the NYX lipstick that I lost, I’m throwing this in.  There’s actually not much left of it (1/4 of the tube) but it’ll still probably take me to the end of the Summer to finish it.

Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer

Age: less than 1 year

Current state: 1/3 of tube

I don’t like this eye primer – at least on it’s own.  However I discovered that if I apply it overtop of the bareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer (which also doesn’t work well on it’s own), my eyeshadow lasts all day and doesn’t crease.  It’s a little annoying to have to apply 2 products but when you have super oily eyelids, sometimes you just do what you have to do.

Tarte Lip Gloss X 6

Age: 3-4 years

Current state: Various

These lip glosses part of the same holiday set as the Tarte eyeshadow palette I’ve included in my Project Pan.  They’re not bad lip glosses at all but you can tell that they’re starting to get old so I hope to use these up over the Summer.  They are mini so I don’t think it should be too hard to do.

Victoria Secret Love Spell Body Spray

Age: 5+ years

Current state: 2/3 of the bottle left

I received this free from Victoria Secret years ago on Black Friday; it’s a very light, peachy scent and I find it suitable for Summer.

CG Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

Age: 1 Year

Current State: 3/4 of the bottle left

I recently re-discovered this foundation and I forgot how much I love this!  The shade that I have in this works best for me in the Summer, so I’d like to be able to work through this quite a bit over the next few months.

Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day Body Spray

Age: 3-4 Years Old

Current State: 1/2 of Bottle

I tend to wear more body sprays than perfume in the Summer so I’m being optimistic that I’m going to get through (or at least make a serious dent) in two of them!

L’Oreal Infalliable Makeup Extending Setting Spray

Age: 2 Years Old

Current State: 1/2 of bottle

This is not a bad setting spray except for the fact that I can’t use it everyday or it makes me break out.  I don’t really use a setting spray often, except on extremely hot days so now is the perfect time to try and use this up.

I actually find it super interesting when people have all these products tey finish in their project pans and their repurchase status most of the time is a no… Also check your pets for that lipstick if you have any, my Dogos always stealin my stuff!

Doing a Project Pan really makes you realize what products you like and enjoy using – it’s kind of eye-opening actually! 🙂

Haha I’ll have to check and see if Maggie swiped my lipstick or hid it somewhere. 🙂 Thanks for reading!

It can be a little tiring to have to focus on using the same products all the time but it’s definitely worth it when I use something up. Plus you get a really good feel for the products and if you like them or not. I’d recommend it! Thanks for stopping by Vanessa! 🙂

Oooh, I love that Love Spell scent – it’s probably my favourite from VS.
Ugh, all of Lancome’s skincare products have strong scents. It’s always grandma scented, too :/
Too bad that Shiseido Ultimune eye cream didn’t work for you! I’ve never used it myself but I used a serum from the line (Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate) and it was quite good. Unfortunate that the eye cream doesn’t measure up.
I’m glad you’ve found out an improved way to do your project pan – can’t wait to see it put to use next year!
The Bareminerals Moxie lipstick sounds awesome. I’m gonna have to try the GenNude Radiant ipstick from the range!
PS – I’m trying to catch up on your posts. Might take a few days!

If you like moisturizing lipsticks than I totally recommend the GenNude line. The only drawback is that the shade range is pretty limited – lots of nudes (duh) but I’m okay with that!

I know you and Stashy always rave about Shiseido products but I have zero luck with that. I do have a lip gloss that I like from them but that’s about it. I don’t think I’m trying the right things from them.

Thanks for catching up on all my posts! 🙂

I love that you do Project Pans! I agree that it is crazy that we are over half way through the year already and I don’t feel that I have put near as much of a dent in my collection as I like. Keep up the inspiration! ♥ Elle

Wow, you really dug out that BareMinerals lipstick huh! Why do they always discontinued the GOOD stuff?
Ha, how did you lose that NYX lipstick! Did Maggie pocket it?!
The CG Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation is probably my favourite drugstore foundation… makes me want to buy a bottle now! 😛
Good luck on your new batch of Project Pan items. 🙂

    • prettyrufflife says

I honestly have no freakin clue where that NYX lipstick went – it’s so weird! Maggie doesn’t typically steal non-food related things so I don’t think it was her but who knows?

I dropped that bottle of CG foundation on the floor last week and it cracked and went everywhere. It was a sad moment…. 🙁
