Well I did…I cancelled my Love with Food subscription. *sob* Okay I’m being slightly dramatic – I can obviously resubscribe if I really miss it that badly.  The problem is I miss it and want it back but the bathing suit sitting in my drawer is telling me I definitely won’t miss it when I try to squeeze back into it this summer.  🙁

I think I’ve said this before but I’ve actually never had a problem unsubscribing from a subscription service before – none of them have ever been good enough to give it a second thought.  Although none of them have ever contained food/snacks either…#hmmm

Alas, let’s get into my final (for now) review of the Love with Food Deluxe Box – this one being for April!

Subscription Options

Love with Food currently offers 3 types of subscription boxes – a Tasting Box, a Deluxe Box and a Gluten Free Box:

  • Tasting Box – as low as $7.99/month (USD)
    • 8+ new & surprise snacks each month
    • Each box donates 1 meal to hungry children
    • Snacks are either organic or all-natural, GMO-free, gluten-free or free of artificial junk
    • Free shipping to US and territories.
    • Not available for international shipping 🙁
  • Deluxe Box – as low as $16.50/month (USD)
    • 16-20 new & surprise snacks each month
    • Each box donates 2 meals to hungry children
    • Snacks are either organic or all-natural, GMO-free, gluten-free or free of artificial junk
    • Free shipping to US and territories.
    • Introductory Offer: $5.99/mo for international shipping
  • Gluten Free Box – as low as $19.99/month (USD)
    • 10-12 surprise celiac-safe & mostly dairy-free snacks each month
    • Each box donates 2 meals to hungry children
    • Snacks will be totally gluten-free and also organic or all-natural, with no artificial junk.
    • Free shipping to US and territories.
    • Introductory Offer: $5.99/mo for international shipping

Within each category of box, they have 4 plans – Month to Month, Annual, 3-Month and 6-Month.  I chose the Month-to-Month option because I like having the freedom to cancel whenever I want.  I do pay more per box this way – each box costs me $19.95 US plus $5.95 US shipping per month.  If you sign up for a 3-month, 6-month or annual plan, the price per box decreases.  It’s also important to note that no matter which plan you chose, it will renew automatically unless you cancel before the first of the month (something I learned the hard way with previous subscription boxes).

Points Program

Love with Food also offers a points program where you can earn points in various ways – such as doing a review of a product you received in your box or purchasing items in their online shop.  They also allot you points based on the type of subscription service you receive.

Points can then be redeemed for products in their online shop.  Unfortunately the shop is not yet open to their international subscribers but their website states they plan on expanding that soon.  So fingers crossed!

April’s Theme

The theme for April was Be The Change: “We all have things in our lives (and beyond) that we’d like to change.  Any big change starts small (like planting a seed), and it starts just as an idea.  This month we want every one of our super snackers to start thinking about making a change, and DO it!  We chose this month’s snacks with that in mind.  These all-natural goodies are changing the way we snack, and they’ll have your back through any changes that come along, big or small. So, what are you waiting for?

What’s inside

LOVED (WOULD PURCHASE)

Loacker Chocolate Bar

I love it when they include full-sized items and this time it was a chocolate bar.  This was so freaking good – I received a version with wafer centre and chocolate cream filling.  It was demolished faster than I care to admit.

Dang Foods Salted Cacao Coconut Chips

Another great combo – chocolate and coconut.  These were toasted coconut chips that were tossed with salt and cocoa and were insanely delicious.  I liked these so much I looked up how much it would cost to place an order of them but they’re not cheap! 🙁

kashi Salted Chocolate Chunk Nut Butter Bar

This was the best granola bar I’ve ever had in my life!  Such a good mix of salty and sweet; I’ve been keeping an eye out for them in my local grocery stores but I haven’t come across them yet.

Artisan Tropic Plantain Strips with Sea Salt

I expected these to taste like banana chips but they were about 100 times more delicious.  They just had a touch of sweetness and tasted more like a potato chip but with a slightly different flavour.  Overall I was impressed!

LIKED

Crown Nut Maple Bacon Flavoured Almonds

Is there a better combination that maple and bacon?  Not really so I was stoked to try these out.  They were good but not very maple bacony – more bacony.  They needed more sweet but were still enjoyable.

Almond Pops with Mango/Blueberries

I didn’t know what to expect with these but they were good; kind of like a mini, less sweet, crunchy rice crispy square.  I preferred the blueberry version over the mango though.

Wonder + Well Organic Flavoured Water

I struggle drinking plain old water so sometimes it’s nice to have something that’s naturally flavoured to make it a little more interesting.  This had a light peach flavour and I liked the fact that it was sugar and calorie-free.

Ginnybakes Mini Chocolate Chip Love Cookies

I have to say that I was impressed with many of the gluten-free items included in my boxes; you’d never know that they were gluten-free. These cookies were no exception – loaded with chocolate chips and perfectly sweet.

Surf Sweets Organic Fruity Bears

Love gummy bears, loved these.  A little different than the standard gummy bear as they were coated in sugar.

MEH

Sensible Foods Organic Apple Harvest Crunch Dried Snacks

I don’t mind dried apple snacks but I found these ones a little too tart for my liking.

The GFB Dark Chocolate Coconut Bar Bites

More chocolate and coconut combinations but I wasn’t as fond of this one.  These had a weird taste to them and were really dry.

HAVEN’T TRIED

SPRD Creole Kicker Mayo Spread

This is sitting in my fridge waiting for me to use.  I love flavoured mayos/aolis so I can’t wait to use this on a burger or sandwich!

The Verdict

Another great box – zero dislikes, 2 meh’s, 5 likes and 4 loves. I’m happy to have went out on a high note.

In review, I’ll repeat again how happy I was with this subscription.  It’s something that I would subscribe to again in the future and would recommend to anyone who loves food/snacks basically.  The only drawback in my opinion was the cost (with the current exchange rate I was being charged around $30 CAD/month) but I enjoyed it so much that I felt like the cost was worth it.

Have I convinced you that you need this subscription box in your life?  If so, feel free to use my referral link to receive 50% off your first box.  In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll receive 1000 points (equates to $10) to spend in their shop (once they expand it internationally).

  1. This is such a great box!! We get Loacker stuff in the grocery store in Canada…it’s all I can do to avoid that section. LOL!

Plantain chips are awesome! And Kashi does make the best granola bars. Cherry chocolate, yummmm.

    So many goodies 🙂

    1. Oh I’m going to have to keep an eye out for Loacker – I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it here but perhaps I haven’t been looking hard enough.

I’ve had Kashi granola bars before but these ones were EXTRA good – agreed that the cherry chocolate ones are yummy.

      Thanks for reading!

  2. I’ve had Loacker wafers before and they’re so good. I swear all the European chocolates make the North American ones taste like a bar of pure sugar with a hint of chocolate “flavouring”.
The artwork on that Crown Nut packaging is hilarious! XD
I only like flavoured water if they have fizz… that’s why we have the Soda Stream. 🙂

    1. Oh you have a Soda Stream?! I’ve always wondered what those are like and if they’re worth getting. I love flavoured sparkling water too!
European chocolate is > North American chocolate for sure!
