Subscription Options

Love with Food currently offers 3 types of subscription boxes – a Tasting Box, a Deluxe Box and a Gluten Free Box:

  • Tasting Box – as low as $7.99/month (USD)
    • 8+ new & surprise snacks each month
    • Each box donates 1 meal to hungry children
    • Snacks are either organic or all-natural, GMO-free, gluten-free or free of artificial junk
    • Free shipping to US and territories.
    • Not available for international shipping 🙁
  • Deluxe Box – as low as $16.50/month (USD)
    • 16-20 new & surprise snacks each month
    • Each box donates 2 meals to hungry children
    • Snacks are either organic or all-natural, GMO-free, gluten-free or free of artificial junk

    • Free shipping to US and territories.
    • Introductory Offer: $5.99/mo for international shipping

Within each category of box, they have 4 plans – Month to Month, Annual, 3-Month and 6-Month.  I chose the Month-to-Month option because I like having the freedom to cancel whenever I want.  I do pay more per box this way – each box costs me $19.95 US plus $5.95 US shipping per month.  If you sign up for a 3-month, 6-month or annual plan, the price per box decreases.  It’s also important to note that no matter which plan you chose, it will renew automatically unless you cancel before the first of the month (something I learned the hard way with previous subscription boxes).

Points Program

Love with Food also offers a points program where you can earn points in various ways – such as doing a review of a product you received in your box or purchasing items in their online shop.  They also allot you points based on the type of subscription service you receive.

Points can then be redeemed for products in their online shop.  Unfortunately the shop is not yet open to their international subscribers but their website states they plan on expanding that soon.  So fingers crossed!

First Look

January’s theme was Follow your Heart: “It’s just three words, but following your heart is no small thing!  Whether it’s hunting for a new career, starting a relationship, or simply resolving to do something you’ve never done before, following your heart takes courage and strength – and, let’s face it, some seriously good snacks to keep you motivated.  Consider this month’s box as fuel for following your heart wherever it may take you!”

What’s inside

Truffle Pig (Milk Caramel / Dark Peppermint)

What’s not to like about chocolate molded into the shape of a pig?  The caramel one was especially delicious – it had super smooth caramel in the middle!

Watusee Tomato Basil Chickpeatos

Dried chickpeas are one of my favourite healthy snacks; the tomato basil seasoning on these was fantastic – totally enjoyed these!

YumEarth Lollipop (Strawberry, Blueberry, Pomegranate, Grape)

These had a little bit of a weird texture – they were kind of gritty.  But the flavour made up for them – they were great for an afternoon pick-me-up!

Sheila G’s Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle with Dark Drizzle

I’ve had Brownie Brittle before and it’s deadly – in a good way.  The salted caramel flavour was really good but I think I prefer the plain chocolate flavour.  Still managed to devour both bags though ;).

Laughing Giraffe Lemon Snackaroon

A couple of these were included in a previous box and I really enjoyed them – they’re not your typical dry-as-dirt macaroon.  Great little snack.

Belgian Boys Mini Cookie Stash Cookie Butter Cookies

Have you ever tried Cookie Butter?  It’s amazing so I was super excited to try these cookies.  They were delicious although I was expecting a bit more cookie-butter taste to them.

Snikiddy Baked Mac n’ Cheese Puffs

Given that Mac n’ Cheese is one of my favourite things ever, I ripped right into this bag when I opened the box.  Unfortunately they were pretty dry, gritty and lacked flavour.  So disappointing! 🙁

Pretzel Perfection Chipoltle BBQ Pretzel Sticks

These had a very strong smoky bbq flavour that I found overpowering.  I don’t mind pretzel sticks so I think I would have liked these better in a different flavour.

Annie Chun’s Seaweed Crisps

OMG I can’t even hold my opinion back on these – these were so gross!  They tasted really fishy and salty and just not good.  I had one and threw the rest in the garbage.  Seaweed is just not my thing.

Heavenly Organics Mint Honey Pattie

I like honey but in small doses or mixed into tea – these chocolate patties were filled with honey and I just wasn’t a fan of the two mixed together.  I didn’t finish the package.

Blue Diamond Nut Thins (Hint of Sea Salt)

I’ve always seen these in store but never actually tried them.  Now I know I’m not missing anything.  I’m not normally a fan of rice crackers in general but these tasted extra salty.

iwon! Organics Cinnamon French Toast Protein Chips

An interesting concept that fails to deliver.  These initally actually taste a lot like french toast with the first bite but then the texture takes over.  They are super gritty, dry and resembled mushy cardboard and they left a horrible aftertaste behind.   I ate a handful of them and then threw the rest of the bag away.

The Verdict

So…I think you can see why I was less than impressed with this month’s box.  4 Dislikes — 2 of which I threw in the garbage, and only 2 Loves.  That said, I never expect to like everything in a box or even every box as part of my subscription.

However, I’m contemplating canceling my subscription.  Not because of this box but because I’m finding the temptation of having an entire box of (mostly) yummy snacks around a bit much for me right now – I’d like to lose some weight before summer and I find the less I have in the house the better.  While Love with Food focuses on including healthy snacks in their boxes, at the end of the day they are still snacks.  Stay tuned!

Interested in signing up?

Have I convinced you that you need this subscription box in your life?  If so, feel free to use my referral link to receive 50% off your first box.  In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll receive 1000 points (equates to $10) to spend in their shop (once they expand it internationally).

I saw those Truffle Pig chocolates last week at Winners and was curious about them because of the cute packaging. I’ll have to go back to see if they still have them.
Hmm Brownie Brittle sounds like something I’d inhale! 😉
I actually think I’d enjoy those seaweed crisps – I’m weird and I love seaweed. I can just eat sheets of them plain! 😛

I used to go to a spa that would give the Truffle Pigs as treat with your pedicure – I’d highly recommend them! 🙂

Had I known you were a seaweed lover, I would have sent them directly to you for you to taste test on my behalf! 😉
