what’s going on with me…

One of my goals this year was to figure out a blogging schedule that works for me – I was originally striving for 3 posts a week and doing okay with that for a bit but I wasn’t able to do other blogger-related things as much as I wanted, like engaging in social media and reading others blogs.  I fell off the wagon last week so I worked my butt off to get up 4 posts this week to catch up and I was exhausted.  It didn’t help that I was having some photography issues –  is there anything worse than taking what you think is the best photo only to go and edit it and realize it’s blurry?!?   I’m literally in awe of people that post quality content 5 days a week or more – how the heck do you do it?!?!

I guess what I’m saying is that right now I’m just going to focus on 2 posts a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and getting my This & That Fridays post up every other Friday.  If I can get more posts done after that then bonus.  I never want to view blogging as a chore which is sort of how it’s been feeling these last few weeks.  It’s something I enjoy and I want to keep it that way.

have you seen/tried/heard?…

How to make your own boozy gummy bears – who knew it was that easy?

I almost bought one of these at Ikea last night but I put it back because they were $10!?!  Ultimately you’re paying for the tiny pot but now I’m regretting it because they were so cute.

I made these Copycat Starbucks Blueberry Bars a couple of weekends ago.  They were pretty good but I’d suggest to let them cool overnight in the fridge – they tasted way better the next day.  I’d also recommend using a square cake pan instead of a 9 x 13 – I thankfully used a square pan and they could have been a bit thicker – in a 9 x 13, they would have been way too thin.

recent purchases…

Because I use dry shampoo so often, trying out a dry conditioner has been high on my list for a while.  When I saw that Cake came out with one, I hightailed it over to Shoppers Drug Mart last weekend to scoop it up.  So far, I’m kind of disappointed.  I’m not really seeing any benefits from it and I don’t like the scent.  🙁

I mentioned how much I did not enjoy this BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in my Loves & Letdowns post earlier this week.   So many rave about this but I just could not get it to work for my skin.  My purchases last week were kind of a big fail overall.

As much as I love my Illume Woodfire Candle, I’d like to try and find a more wallet-friendly dupe for it.  I picked up Bath & Body Works Smoked Vanilla Candle a while back and just started using it this week.  It’s definitely not a dupe but it is really nice!  Thinking I might try Mahogany Teakwood next….

I’ve found a new obsession – peel-off face masks.  Why have I never used one of these before?  I tried this one from Shopper’s Drug Mart and while I didn’t feel like it did much, it was extremely satisfying to peel it off.  If you can recommend one that is actually effective, please do so below – I’d appreciate it! 🙂

currently coveting…

How cute is this heart cut-out linen tee?

I really want to find a lightweight BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer for lazy days – I’ve been reading up on the reviews of the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.  Has anyone tried it?

Think I’m going to give this meatloaf recipe a whirl over the weekend!

  1. It’s really hard to stick to a blogging schedule. Tuesdays/Thursdays is my schedule too, but I’ve been failing at even that! 🙁 Life just gets in the way sometimes, ya know?

I think I remember reading a comment somewhere of a person who tried making those boozy gummy bears and they said it was disgusting! lol. The idea is nice though – you should give it a try and see if it works for you! I’m sure it’s easy to adjust to your liking once you try it once.

Omg, all of the peel-off face masks I’ve tried HURT like a bitch when I peel them off. Maybe I just have a hairy face??

Thank you for featuring me as your blogger of the moment – you are too sweet! And YAY for fellow Calgarian! I’m slowly finding more of us in the blogging world lately!

    1. I could totally see the gummy bears being disgusting – somethings you just can’t replicate!

lol @ the peel off mask – I’ve heard that too but I kept it away from my hairline – it’s a thinner mask though so it might be a good option for you. I honestly didn’t feel like it did anything though. I’d love to find one for blackheads.

You are most welcome re: the feature – I’ve always enjoyed your blog and you’ve always been supportive of mine! 🙂

  2. I’ve been falling so behind on my once rigorous blogging schedule lately. I think I’m just in a bit of a funk or something . I’m falling off the wagon while trying so hard to motivate myself to get back up, so I totally get the struggle! I was doing 4 days a week for so long!

Ooh I need to try out that peel off mask… They are definitely super satisfying!

    1. I get like that every so often too – it’s hard to break out of it! While I enjoy blogging, it does require a significant amount of work and it can get exhausting at times.

  3. I’ve never committed to a blogging schedule… I just go with the flow and my mood! I like to keep people on their toes LOL (I’m sure nobody cares when or if I post more / less any given week. 😛 )
Hmm too bad about that Cake dry conditioner – seems like a good concept.
Yeah I loved that purple smokey look Polished & Inspired created! <3
What? You've not used peeled off face masks before? I loved those back in the day! Similar to applying a layer of white glue on your palms, letting it dry, and peeling it off, ha! XD

    1. Oh I always thought you had a schedule – you seem to post every weekday anyway though? I admire your dedication!

I know, I’ve obviously been missing out re: the peel off masks!
