As a Canadian, I tend to dread Winter – not only for the frigid temperatures, slippery roads and limited daylight, but for the havoc it wreaks on my skin.  As it is, I have chronically dry skin on my body and hands and the dry, cold air just compounds it.  This year I’ve actually found a solution to this irritating problem – 3 solutions actually – and I thought I’d share them with you!

  1. L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil
I’ve been using this shower oil since this past Summer but I’ve really put it to the test over the last few months.  In the past, it didn’t matter what shave gel or cream or conditioner I used to shave my legs, I’d always end up with dry, flaky skin on my legs – even if I slathered them with moisturizer after the fact.  Using this to shave has completely eliminated that problem – my legs are soft, smooth and flake-free!  I’ve now started using this as an all-over body wash too, with the same results.  Note that it doesn’t suds and foam up like a regular body wash does but I still feel like it cleans my skin sufficiently.
  2. OGX Extra Creamy Coconut Miracle Oil Lotion
I’ve mentioned this lotion a few times over the last few months and there’s a reason I can’t stop talking about it.  I’m so glad I discovered this because it’s one of the few body lotions that I actually see results with.  It hydrates my skin all day long but never leaves it feeling greasy or sticky and it doesn’t leave white residue on my darker clothes if I happen to touch them shortly after applying it (I HATE that!).  The formula is on the thinner side and turns white when I rub it into my skin – which concerned me at first, because I’ve used moisturizers that do that band then never absorb.  This starts absorbing immediately after I rub it in and within a minute, the white streaks are gone and my skin is left feeling soft and smooth.  It also has a really nice coconut scent which I enjoy.
  3. Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream
I go through a ton of hand cream, even more in the colder months.  I’ve tried so many but the one I always come back to is this one.  If you suffer from persistent dry hands, you need to give this stuff a try.  I think it’s the combination of shea butter, coconut oil and aloe vera that really does the trick for me.  In addition, it has that perfect consistency where it’s thick enough to coat your hands and hydrate them, but not too thick where it just sits on top of your skin, doesn’t absorb and leaves them feeling greasy.  They have a bunch of delicious-smelling scents too!    I wasn’t a fan of the Sweet Mint scent to begin with, but it’s really grown on me.  Unfortunately it looks like it might be limited-edition but I’d also recommend the Strawberry & Cream, Lemon & Cream and Vanilla & Cream scents.

    1. Honestly it’s one of the few that actually work, particularly in these super dry Winter months. Definitely recommend giving them a try! 🙂

    1. Ugh seriously – did they start up and stop again? I’ve honestly had nothing but problems since I moved over to self-hosting – it’s SO frustrating!

Let me know if you find it and how you like it – I’m in love with it! 🙂
