Within each category of box, they have 4 plans – Month to Month, Annual, 3-Month and 6-Month. I chose the Month-to-Month option because I like having the freedom to cancel whenever I want. I do pay more per box this way – each box costs me $19.95 US plus $5.95 US shipping per month. If you sign up for a 3-month, 6-month or annual plan, the price per box decreases. It’s also important to note that no matter which plan you chose, it will renew automatically unless you cancel before the first of the month (something I learned the hard way with previous subscription boxes).
Points Program
Love with Food also offers a points program where you can earn points in various ways – such as doing a review of a product you received in your box or purchasing items in their online shop. They also allot you points based on the type of subscription service you receive.
Points can then be redeemed for products in their online shop. Unfortunately the shop is not yet open to their international subscribers but their website states they plan on expanding that soon. So fingers crossed!
First Look
January’s theme was Seize the Day: “This time of year everyone’s thinking about making changes in their lives, and at Love With Food we’re no different. While it’s easy to get back into that everyday routine you’re used to, we want to encourage all our super snackers to mix things up a little. Book that international trip you’ve always wanted. Run that marathon. Or just try some new all-natural snacks! Hey, nothing wrong with baby steps.”
What’s inside
LOVED (WOULD PURCHASE)
Dave’s Sweet Tooth Peanut Butter Crunch/Milk Chocolate Toffee
These two were my favourite items in the box this month – they were both sooooo yummy! They reminded me a lot of Almond Roca but not as hard. Loved them!
Door Country Original Potato Chips
These were plain, kettle-style chips (which is my favourite type) and they were really good. A great salty snack!
Emmy’s Coconut Cookies (Dark Cacao/Coconut Vanilla)
I’m not normally a fan of macaroons so I didn’t expect to enjoy these but they were a pleasant surprise. They were super soft and not at all dry.

Please excuse the truffles in this photo – they shouldn’t be there – oops!
Dark Chocolate Creme de Pirouline Rolled Wafers
Mmmm Piroulines! If you’ve never had these they’re basically a super thin wafter rolled up with chocolate cream in the middle. It’s good that they only included two of these because I can usually eat an entire tin.
Bitsy’s Brainfood Smart Crackers (Maple Carrot Crisp)
This was a full-sized box of crackers which was awesome but when I saw the flavour kind of made me cringe – Maple Carrot? Turns out they were actually really delicious and enjoyable – they were a little salty and a little sweet. I’d love to get more of these!
LIKED
Goodie Girl Midnight Brownie Cookies
Gluten-free cookies can be a little hit or miss and these were a little dry and crumbly but they actually tasted pretty good – very brownie-like.
Cinnamon Berry Granola
This was super cinnamony (which was awesome) and good enough that I ate it all on it’s own – I didn’t even need milk!
MEH
Dilettante Chocolates Coffee Trio TruffleCremes
These were a very rich, strong coffee-flavoured truffle; a little too intense for my liking.
Honey Stinger Organic Chocolate Waffle
I really didn’t know what to expect from this – it was a little weird. It was very thin waffles stuck together with what I guess was honey but it was really sticky and chewy to the point where it was almost hard to chew.
DISLIKE
Fibre Gourmet Thinables (Cinnamon Swirl)
These were really not good – they had the weirdest texture, like chalk. They had a really strong cinnamon flavour which I didn’t mind but I just couldn’t get past the chalkyness.
HAVEN’T TRIED
Ginger Honey Crystals + Ginger Candy
I know ginger is good for an upset stomach/nausea so I’ll be stashing these away in our vitamin/medicine drawer.
Aloha Chocolate Blend Daily Good Greens Dietary Supplement
This is actually pretty cool – it’s a supplement with a full-serving of fruits and veggies, superfoods like spiralina and wheatgrass juice and Vitamin D. It can be added to a smoothie or stirred into water.
Truvia Natural Sweetener
I try to stay away from artificial sweeteners when possible so I like that they included a pack of this natural one to try. I’ll likely add use this to sweeten my tea.
The Verdict
December’s box was my favourite that I’ve received to date so that was going to be hard to top. This month’s obviously didn’t compare but it was still decent. I appreciated the healthier take, given that it was a start of a new year.

I love Piroulines! I would inhale those Dark Chocolate ones if I came across those!
And those PB Toffee sound amazing – you had me at Almond Roca but not as hard. I love Almond Roca but sometimes OUCH.
I haven’t tried that particular kind of ginger drink, but I’ve tried others and they’re fantastic to calm upset tummies!
Yes Piroulines are so addicting. Plus they’re so light you can eat a bunch of them and not feel disgusting. Haha.
I honestly feel like I could break a tooth eating Almond Roca sometimes – guaranteed you’d love those toffees. I was so tempted to order some but I shouldn’t because #exchange. Ugh.
