    • Introductory Offer: $5.99/mo for international shipping

Within each category of box, they have 4 plans – Month to Month, Annual, 3-Month and 6-Month.  I chose the Month-to-Month option because I like having the freedom to cancel whenever I want.  I do pay more per box this way – each box costs me $19.95 US plus $5.95 US shipping per month.  If you sign up for a 3-month, 6-month or annual plan, the price per box decreases.  It’s also important to note that no matter which plan you chose, it will renew automatically unless you cancel before the first of the month (something I learned the hard way with previous subscription boxes).

Points Program

Love with Food also offers a points program where you can earn points in various ways – such as doing a review of a product you received in your box or purchasing items in their online shop.  They also allot you points based on the type of subscription service you receive.

Points can then be redeemed for products in their online shop.  Unfortunately the shop is not yet open to their international subscribers but their website states they plan on expanding that soon.  So fingers crossed!

What’s inside

December’s box was curated by Kelly Kapowski Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.  I didn’t realize she actually has her own cooking show on The Cooking Network – although it appears that almost everyone does now (I’d like one too please!).  In all fairness, I think she did a fabulous job, I mean she included a box of Mac n’ Cheese!

Extreme Daily Dose of Dark Chocolate

I’m not normally a fan of dark chocolate but I think the addition of cocoa nibs in this made it more enjoyable.  I didn’t realize all the health benefits associated with them either.  This was a great middle of the day pick-me-up!

Off the Cob Sweet Corn Tortilla Chips

These intrigued me right from the start and they didn’t disappoint!  They’re like a basic tortilla chip but with a hint of sweetness.  I rarely eat tortilla chips without salsa but I easily ate a whole bag of these plain.

Horizon Organic Cheddar Cheesy Deluxe Mac and Cheese

OMG a full-sized box of Mac n’ Cheese?!?!?!  Have I mentioned that I’m a Mac n’ Cheese connoisseur?   It’s basically my favourite thing and I love discovering new types.   This was a fancy one with a foil pack of cheese sauce instead of the powdered kind so it was extra creamy and delicious.  So much yum!

Bark Thins Dark Chocolate Almond with Sea Salt

More dark chocolate but this had almonds and sea salt added to it and it was in bark form.  It was a great mix of salty and sweet and a fantastic snack.

GoGo Squeez Yogurtz (Banana)

I really didn’t expect to like this – yogurt in a squeezy pouch that doesn’t need to refrigerated?  It was surprisingly good however and tasted like vanilla yogurt with the slightest hint of banana.

Lucy’s Ginger Snaps

I feel like I’ve gotten ginger snaps in every box I’ve received but I’m not complaining too much because I am generally a fan of them.  These were gluten-free (although I wouldn’t have known otherwise) and quite thick and crunchy with a good balance of sweet and spicy.

Baron Chocolatier Peppermint Bark Bar

Yet another great surprise – a full-sized chocolate bar!  Peppermint and chocolate isn’t my favourite combination but I kind of like it around Christmas – it feels festive.  This had two layers – the first was just straight up dark chocolate, the second white chocolate mixed with chips of peppermint bark.  It was rich yet refreshing and a nice treat.

Luna Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Mini Bar

Mmmm chocolate and hazelnut in a Luna bar.  Luna bars are one of the best protein bars I’ve tried but I’ve never tried these particular ones; I like the fact that these are smaller and lower in calories yet still have the protein factor.

Horizon Organic Bunch o’ Berries Fruit Snacks

A healthy version of a fruit snack, yes please.  Nothing to complain about here.

Pasta Chips (Spinach Broccoli Kale)

These were chips/crackers in the shape of ravioli which is a cool idea  but I would have liked them better if they had a different flavour.  Are chips flavoured like Spinach Broccoli and Kale actually a flavour that people want?   The initial flavour of these wasn’t too bad but they left a bad aftertaste behind.

Salmas Oven Baked Corn Crackers

These weren’t the worst crackers I’ve ever had but they definitely weren’t the best.   They were super fragile so they crumbled and broke easily and they were kind of bland tasting and dry.

Nothing! 🙂

The Verdict

This has been my favourite box that I’ve received thus far, mostly because of that box of Mac n’ Cheese.  I wouldn’t be disappointed AT ALL if they included a different type of Mac n’ Cheese in every box.  Is there a Mac n’ Cheese subscription service?  Because if so I’d be all over that.  Anyway…. there wasn’t anything that I disliked this time around – just a couple of meh’s but everything else was awesome.  The bar is set high for January’s box!

Have I convinced you that you need this subscription box in your life?  If so, feel free to use my referral link to receive 50% off your first box.  In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll receive 1000 points (equates to $10) to spend in their shop (once they expand it internationally).

I love dark chocolate and the Cacao Nibs and Bark Thins sound yummy.
Are these are brands that can be purchased in stores / in Canada?

    • prettyrufflife says

I think some of them can be…I’m still waiting for them to open up their points program to Canadians so I can use those to purchase items out of their shop! 🙂
