Sephora VIB Sale – What Should I Buy?

The Sephora VIB Sale starts this Friday and I’ve been contemplating what I should pick up.  I’m scaling back a bit this year – there’s not a ton of exciting things that I’m really interested in. Originally I contemplated picking up another palette – but then decided that I really need to start using what I already own; instead I may pick up a few single shadows to add to my Z palette.  I have no real interest in the holiday sets that I’ve seen either, is it just me or are they all really boring and overdone this year? Of course, all of this could be thrown out the window once I get in-store/online.  Here are my initial thoughts:

  1. Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate: I’ve been on the hunt for a new eye cream and I like the sounds of this one.  I want something that is lightweight but will still moisturize and help reduce the look of the fine lines that have started to make a more pronounced appearance.  I appreciate that this is comprised of more natural ingredients as well.
  2. Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask: I’m always on the lookout for something to soothe my chronically dry, peeling lips that get a million times worse in the Winter months.  This intrigues me but I’m a little worried about the extensive ingredient list.
  3. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Exposed): Do I need another blush?  Not at all, in fact it’s probably one of the makeup items that I have the most of.  But I’ve been lusting over this for a while and it looks like a great neutral, everyday blush.
  4. Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel: I had this product in my possession up until about a year ago and then it ran out and I never repurchased it.  It’s one of those exfoliating gels that you massage into your face and it sloughs off the dead skin; other than the fact that I like it because I can physically see that it’s doing something to my skin, I love how soft and smooth my face feels after using it.  This is not cheap but it will last a while as I only use it two times a week max.
  5. Tarte Tartesist Double Take Eyeliner: I swatched this in store and was impressed with its pigmentation and lasting powder.  My sample sizes of my Kat von D liners are almost used up and while I liked those, this seems like it might be a little easier to work with.
  6. Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon (Rollerball): I always like to pick up a new perfume, preferably in rollerball form as it’s a great way to test out a fragrance without committing to the full-size.  I really like the scent of this (woodsy yet sweet) and it’ll be great for the winter months ahead.
  7. Too Faced Shadow Insurance: This is the only eyeshadow primer I’ve tried that actually works with every shadow I own; I also love it because a little goes a long way so it lasts forever.
  8. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo: Everyone raves about this dry shampoo and while I’m reluctant to stray from my beloved Batiste, I use dry shampoo so often that I feel I need to give it a try – in travel size of course!
  9. Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick (Candy Cane): Someone slap me for even considering another liquid lipstick – I haven’t found one that I can wear comfortably yet.  But this is a beautiful, vibrant colour and it smells delicious.    Also the packaging is adorable!

What, if anything, are you planning on picking up at the Sephora sale?  Let me know below!

    That’s a nice selection.
Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate sounds amazing. Im in the market for a new eye cream myself – so far liking Caudalie and Clarins, trying to decide between those too. I think I should check the Juice Beauty one, before I commit 🙂

I really wanted to try the Juice Beauty eye cream but they were sold out when I went to place my order online (and they don’t sell the line in-store here). The good thing is it’s not all that expensive so the discount doesn’t make it that much cheaper. Did you end up with a new eye cream?

My list is way too long but there’s no way I’m spending $1000 lol – I bought the Tarte blush and I wasn’t happy with it. I found the pigment way too light for my skin, I felt like it was packed so hard into the palette that the colour wasn’t coming off and onto my brush. Maybe it was just the wrong color for me

You’re the second person to mention that about Tarte Exposed – I actually didn’t end up getting it and now I’m kind of glad I didn’t. I find Tarte blushes are kind of like that – they seem to have a hard top coat or something. Although I own a few of them and once I get through the top coat, they work great. Exposed could be an exception to that rule though. Looking forward to seeing what you picked up!

Such a nice bunch of products! I found your blog through bloglovin’ and this post is so cute! I love the look of the Melted Liquid Lipsticks too but will my bank account allow it?! xo

I have no direct experience with any of the items on your list but I say get Juice Beauty Smoothing Eye Concentrate, Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask, and all the replacements.
But NO on Tarte Exposed. I hate that thing – not pigmented and the colour looks like dirt. I’ve got it and it’s being purged. You’re better off getting Benefit Rockateur.
I posted my Sephora shopping list today! 😛

Oh that’s too bad about Tarte Exposed. I have a few Tarte blushes and I find they always kind of suck for the first little bit – its like they have a hard top coat or something on top but once you break through that, they work well. In the end I didn’t end up getting it, I was in such a blah mood when I was there and I wasn’t feeling it.

There’s not a lot that catches my eye this year, either! Glad I wasn’t the only one left underwhelmed by the selection. You are right, the holiday palettes this year felt largely the same as what was offered in the last few years. We need something different!
I laughed when I saw the Too Faced liquid lipstick on your list. If you buy it, I hope it works for you!
Hmm, I’ve never noticed that Tarte eyeliner, but I’m intrigued now!

I ended up skipping the TF liquid lipstick – I felt even less inspired when I was in-store. I ended up purchasing almost everything online so I could get cashback through ebates – even though it only ended up getting me $4 or something. Ebates has become a bit of an obsession…. 😉

Great choices! I had my eye on Exposed from Tarte too and it may have landed in my cart 😉 Can’t wait to see what you ended up picking up!
