This & That Saturdays – October 29

what’s going on with me

My time management skills have been particularly bad this week and I’m feeling frustrated with myself for it.  If you have any tips/resources on how to better manage your time, I’d love to hear them.  It’s an area I really need to improve on and I’m determined to do so.

I’m having some big issues with my blog and it’s driving me nuts!  I’m currently using the Jetpack plug-in to log my email subscriptions except its.not.working and it hasn’t worked since day 1!  None of my email subscribers are showing up and I’ve been going back and forth with their support team and their answer is – oh well, we can see them on our end.  Well that’s great but that doesn’t work for me!  On top of that photos from my older posts are not showing up.  I’m ready to pull my hair out and move back to wordpress.com!

have you seen/heard?

I’m a fan of Essie’s Gel Setter top coat and these 3D Pop Tints look really interesting!

How do you feel about Beauty Advent Calendars?  I think they’re a cool idea but I’d probably never buy one for myself and some of them are REALLY expensive.  Like this one from Estee Lauder that retails for $310 CAD – woah!

recent purchases

I picked up this Tarteist Lip Wardrobe Duo a while ago and I’ve used them both a few times.  Overall I’m disappointed – the lip paint is super dry and emphasizes all the fine lines in my lips; the glossy lip paint is a great colour but it’s really glossy so it kind of smears everywhere.  I think I need to give up on the finding a liquid lipstick that works for me.

Because I’m all about leggings for Fall, I snagged this printed tunic from Ricki’s last week.  This is not normally something I’d wear but it’s actually pretty cute on – it looks like a dress and most importantly, it’s super comfy.

Have you tried this Covergirl mascara? I can add this one to the long list of CG mascaras that do not work for me and this one might be the worst yet.  The brush collects so much product, the formula is very wet, it clumps and it makes me look like I have 4 eyelashes.  Horrible!

currently coveting

I tried on this sweater at Old Navy last weekend; it was cute but I wanted to wait for it to go on sale as I just can’t bring myself to pay full price for something at Old Navy.

I don’t wear eye cream because I’ve never found one that actually does something.  But lately I’ve been noticing more fine lines around my eyes so I think it’s about time that I find one that works.  What eye cream do you use?

Bahahaha Maggie and I need this hoodie!

favourite youtube video of the week

Leighann is one of my favourite Youtubers and I just love her little dog Luna.  How cute is she in her hamburger costume.? It’s actually seems like it’s pretty easy to make to!

Need to catch up on my posts?  Here’s what I’ve been up to the last few weeks:

What’s coming up on my blog:

  • Summer Road Trip (California Part 1): I’m putting the finishing touches on this post and it’ll be up tomorrow.
  • What Should I Buy – Sephora VIB Sale: The Sephora sale starts for VIB’s next week; have you put together your wish-list yet?
  • Summer Road Trip (California Part 2): A review of our travels to and through Monterey, Big Sur, Paso Robles, and Huntington Beach
  • Love with Food – October Box Review: Was my October box as big of a hit as the September box?  Stay tuned!

Have a fantastic weekend!

I dislike beauty advent calendars – such a rip-off. That trend took off a couple of years ago and I shake my head every time I see one now.
Oh I JUST bought that CG Katy Kat Eye mascara! I hope it works for me…
Two eye creams I like are: Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye cream. 🙂
Haha Leighann Says is great – I haven’t watched her videos in a while now.
Sorry to hear you’re having such issues with your blog plug-in. Reason #517 that I’m not attempting self-hosting for now…

Bahaha we seem to be polar opposites on mascara so I’m guessing you will probably like it! I picked mine up at Shoppers for $5 in a clearance bin that was packaged with one of their eyeliners which was equally as bad – at least it doesn’t sting as much when it’s cheap!

Thank you for the eye cream recommendations – I will check both of those out!

I love the idea of beauty advent calendars, but I would never get one because they’re so expensive for what you get – basically you’re paying for a bunch of samples, and most of them are not deluxe samples either.
I second Stashy on the Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 and the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream! The Shiseido is definitely for night-time use. Stashy introduced me to the Kiehl’s one, and it’s really good for a daytime eye cream – if you want just an overall eye cream, probably go with this one.
I feel you on the liquid lipstick front, girl! I also can’t find one that works for me.

Totally agree about the advent calendars – fun idea but who actually buys them?

Glad to know you echo Stashy’s comments on the eye creams – I’m going to check both of those out!

I don’t know why I’m trying so hard to make liquid lipsticks work for me – my lips are always so dry without any product on them. Call me stubborn I guess! 😉
